The epitome of nineties glitz and garishness. They appealed to girls all over the world, due to each member having their own look and style.

Brit Pop
Indie bands such as Blur and Oasis were huge fashion icons in the 90's. Bringing back the mod haircuts of the 60's, aviator sunglasses from the 30's and green parka's from the 70's. During the 90's, a chart battle between the two bands dubbed the 'The Battle of Britpop' in British press frenzy in 1995. You were either team Blur or team Oasis!

Hip Hop
Hip Hop fashion is a distinctive style of dress - such as oversized baseball jackets, tracksuits, baseball caps and MC Hammer pants, which originated from the African American youth culture. The TV series 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air', hightlighted this trend with his pop rapping, neon coloured clothing and baseball caps. Women wore oversized trousers and big flannel shirts with a sports bra showing underneath. Men's jewellery focused on heavy gold chains, while women's focused on large gold earrings.

Naffco54
Naff Naff jackets were made by a French company and becamepopular in the early 1990's. They were a bomber style jacket with 'Naffco54' logo on the back in bright, block stitching.

Sportswear
Sportswear was very popular throughout the 90's. Stretchy clothing like tracksuits became common everyday attire. Sportswear was a fashion statement as well as showing pride for a favourite team or athlete. 'Nike' and 'Adidas' were considered very fashionable. 'Sporty Spice' of 'The Spice Girls' also made the sportswear look cool.

Grunge
The rise of the grunge fashion in the early 90's was one of the most significant trends of the decade. Grunge was a trend that combined two very different forms of styles from previous decades, the 70's hippies and the 80's punks. The style was oversized, often scruffy and dark. For the women it included long straight hair and flowing feminine skirts combined with Dr Martin boots, floral prints and body jewellery. Young men also wore their hair long, wore baggy pants, ripped t-shirts and flannel shirts.

Girls Teen Idols
Teenage girls in the 90's had a mis-match of styles. Floral dresses, chunky boots, trippy prints and floppy hats were all the rage. Silver Jewellery and moodrings completed the look. Hair was either sleek or up in a top knot and feathered spikes. Butterfly clips were used in their hundreds to achieve the look.

In the early 90's, The Sweater Shop popped up all over the country. They sold sweaters, jumpers and T-shirts. the designs would be bright colours with stripes, spots and patterns featuring the Sweater Shop logo on the front - all packaged in a box!
